Vietnam seeks to strengthen cooperation with Finland

(VOVWORLD) – Deputy Prime Minister Tran Hong Ha met with Finnish leaders on Thursday to discuss ways to strengthen cooperation between the two countries.

President Alexander Stubb proposed that the two governments adopt measures to strengthen cooperation based on their individual potential and mutual interests. He stressed the importance of expanding collaboration in all areas, prioritizing areas in which Finland has strengths and Vietnam has corresponding needs.

Deputy Prime Minister Ha highlighted Finland’s special role in supporting Vietnam’s green economic development, sustainable transformation and building a circular economy. He affirmed Vietnam’s support for Finland in strengthening its cooperation with ASEAN.

Finnish Deputy Prime Minister Rikka Purra highlighted the significant potential for economic cooperation between the two countries, particularly in the areas of forestry, energy, information technology, education and digital transformation and green.

Deputy Prime Minister Ha suggested that the Finnish government encourage Finnish companies to invest in Vietnam in environmental protection, renewable energy, smart urban development, industrial waste treatment and information technology. He also urged Finland to pressure other EU countries to quickly ratify the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA).

Finnish leaders praised the Vietnamese community in Finland, recognizing their hardworking and successful integration. They affirmed Finland’s commitment to continue creating favorable conditions for the Vietnamese diaspora to live and work in Finland.
