PNO/PI responds to the current situation

2. December 2024, 2:00 p.m. | Andreas Knoll

The Profibus-Nutzer organization (PNO/PI) will be fragmented in the world of single-pair Ethernet: a new standard based on IEC 63171-7 offers the best solutions. Marktstart is planned for 2026.

We are across all industries and use the oldest standards for single-pair Ethernet standards, which were pioneered by PNO/PI, so that the best integration solutions are possible. Based on the IEC 63171-7 hybrid standard.

IEC 63171 includes other standards, which include the following two alliances: the SPE System Alliance and the SPE Industrial Partner Network. Regarding the dualism of alliances, the most versatile product families within the market, which have no relation to them, take care of it for very suitable solutions. This situation occurs in our industry sectors and is unreliable – “Solange of the theme is not geklärt ist, the mud ich mit SPE gar nicht erst an“ war eine typical Aussage von Marktteilnehmern.

The Profibus-Nutzer organization knows the situation

Advice should also be sought on the plan to establish the de facto situation: the Profibus-Nutzer organization (PNO/PI – Profibus & Profinet International). Through the PNO/PI initiative, a family of Profinet components is available for advanced industrial applications such as IP65 Hybrid, IP65 M12, IP65 M8 and IP20. The same Steckgesicht was created for companies that have solutions in a defined company group, within the framework of the PNO/PI network which provides companies within the SPE System Alliance as well as within the network of SPE industrial partners. It is based on the IEC (International Electrotechnical Commission) Standardization of the Material and the Ergänzung of the Specification IEC 63171-7 eingereicht. This is the ideal solution for TE Connectivity as part of the collaboration with Phoenix Contact in charge of the M12-Power-Hybrid-SPE connector for a combined data and power organization.

Verena Neuhaus, Phoenix Contact: »I tell you, we will be in 2026 the first product on the market will be presented.«

The products are sold on the market, led by Verena Neuhaus, Product Manager Data Connectors at SPE-System-Alliance-Mitglied Phoenix Contact. »I tell you, in 2026 we will be the first products on the market will be presented. We offer you simple solutions for communication and easy updating of data and licenses for PoDL, in particular: Power over Data-Line, beibehalten.“The bisherigen SPE module series from Phoenix Contact based on the standard IEC-63171-2- and -5-Specifications also include the new product specifications, vornehmlich for Anwendungen außerhalb der Industrie et general für Applicationsbereiche, in denen einheitliche Standards weniger entscheidend sind.

Kilian Schmale, Harting: “With the Harting technology group, the PNO/PI initiative is positive. »

Auch Harting War Teil der vorbereitenden Arbeitsgruppe et wird die Standardisierung bei der IEC begleiten. “The Harting Technology Group created the PNO/PI Positive Initiative and the SPE Industry Partner Network as part of a common position, independent of all strategic technologies and capabilities,” said Kilian Schmale, Head of the sector. Marketing EMEA bei Harting and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the SPE Industrial Partner Network. Harting is committed to implementing compliance guidelines based on IEC 63171-6 to avoid non-industrial applications. Bis die Produktlinien mit dem new Steckgesicht auf den Markt kommen, wird es wohl ohnehin noch aine Zeitlang dauern.
